what do you make of the new tv commercials about the “bad times,” acceptance of socialistic government?
i have noticed, within the past 8 weeks, new tv commercials that project a sort of what i shall call creeping acceptance of the "hard times" by families that sure as heck do not look like they will lose their jobs or houses! you see little children talking about how the family must work together to cut back on spending on their vacations, their meals out, their outtings to movies and so forth, in order that the "essentials" of life are paid for. in one commercial, the essential mentioned is the little girl’s diabetic testing strips. hummm…
it seems to me that these commercials project a complacent acceptance by the public at large of the current recovery scheme (with fiat federal reserve approved and printed dollars) plan and bailouts to the banks so that they feel that they are politically correct for the times.
these tv commercials seem to say to me that families that are NOT (the people in that house sure don’t look like they are having any financial problems) experiencing loss of jobs should tighten their belts with the rest of us poor souls, namely, not spending their money, when their spending money in the economy would be one of the ways to get out of this mess.
i approve of saving money–this should have been done by those people that gave themselves the american way using credit cards and second mortgages, but i do not agree that when you have no threat of a loss of work or your house going into foreclosure that you really need to cut back on spending because if we do not spend money, then the domino effect is in fact worsened and then there is political reason to spend fantastic sums of money that we DO NOT HAVE for the recovery act (those funds will not be disbursed until 2010, btw).
president obama’s current proposition for financial recovery is to spend 9 TRILLION dollars, which will be comprised of future debt that our children and their children will have to be taxed on to make it up, and i heard, but cannot now confirm, that obama has plans to introduce the second economic recovery act, before these non-existent dollars are disbursed! what is he doing?
what do you think about the popularity of making brown paper bag lunches and waiting for the good movies to come onto dvd instead of going out to eat and paying for entertainment, when you really can pay for it without suffering?
do you think that this projection of the "bad times" for all of us (when it is not bad for all of us) may lead to an acceptance of socialism, namely, the redistribution of YOUR money to those that have less? i.e., do you think that these tv commercials will sway the public to the point that they mindlessly go about their lives as their money is stripped away from them, for the betterment of other citizens/the buildup of ever more federal government programs? (earmarks…)
if you have also seen the commercials i am talking about, please give me your full opinion of them and tell me why you think they are good for the general public, or bad for it.
do you think that we are being sold down the river? why?
you that know me know that i like you to back your opinion up and to argue it. i do not mind if you feel differently from me and certainly will not give a thumbs down to you if you differ with me, but i want to know why. i also love when you include demographic material, such as age, area where you live, what job you do, your family size, and so on.

I think we are being sold down the river. I think that the networks are working in concert with the administration. The very rich billionaires in this country and the world own most of the media and entertainment industry. I think they do better with control brought by hard times than with general prosperity.
I think that TV shows work on us, the media works on us, work on conditioning us to an end, and I think it’s working.
This has been in the works for a very long time. McCarthy may have been on to something.
How did the left get all the TV networks, entertainment industry, colleges, PBS, now K – 12 schools? How are lies more compelling than truth? That takes much effort to hold together, much concerted effort, especially with the people in the USA … but they are doing it aren’t they.

Do you have a link to the commercials? I haven’t seen this in my area. I’m in the northeast.

Television must promote the acceptance of poverty as well as the legitimate need for social welfare now that the wealthy have yet again impoverished our shared economy. Baby hasn’t eaten in two days- what to do? I know, go to the nearest Republican relief site- after all, they are Christian, aren’t they? Not bloody likely- remember that they have absolutely no objection to a very late term abortion known as poor education and institutional poverty.

I’ve seen quite a few commercials like this lately. I think part of it is companies trying to show how sympathetic they are to the plight of people who are having problems so people will turn to their company and they (those companies) will prosper even in hard financial times.
BUT it’s been quite obvious from the beginning of his campaign that the media would do anything for Dear Leader. They push and push and push an agenda, giving you small glimpses of it first, a very soft sell. This is how they desensitize people to their real agenda. By the time it rolls around, people are so used to seeing it that it no longer bothers them the way it once did.

Socialism is not a matter of if but of when.
We cannot keep the high standard of life we had when we had colonies and military supremacy around the world. Now, even the poorest countries are moving forward so their resources cannot be easily plundered, and all nations are stocking on WMDs or developing the infrastructure to make them.
The only way for the West to keep a high standard of life would be waging dozens of simultaneous wars for the sake of cheap resources, and that won’t happen. So Americans indeed have to get used to it: the future is socialism and a tighter bell.
Or another world war.

If you are talking about the commercials I am thinking of, they are for the Target stores.
They have always sold to people of modest income who wish to live a fashionable lifestyle. That is their marketing niche.
I’m pretty sure that Target is not advocating socialism.
I have to ask if perhaps some certain news media have been making people see socialism where it does not exist?

To long of speach.
I do not poison my mind with the Bube tube.
All Americans can and should cut back.
Obama is telling everyone to spend like its not your MONEY like Obama does.
So I can not really tell you about the commercials.
People on her barely read the whole question let alone a long blog this is tthe wrong forum.

We’re in one hell of a catch 22 today.
We’ve let our manufacturing base deteriorate or move off shore so we’re stuck with a service economy and people are rightfully fearful to spend what dollars they have on those services. Well here comes big government to save us from something they caused in the first place. What a fricking mess!
I’ve seen the comercials you’re talking about and they give me the same feeling I get when I see our ‘once great companies’ like GM begging for handouts from the federal government! I’m embarrassed and this stuff makes me sick to my stomach.
"We can’t drive our SUVs and, you know, eat as much as we want and keep our homes on, you know, 72 degrees at all times, whether we’re living in the desert or we’re living in the tundra, and then just expect every other country is going to say OK, you know, you guys go ahead keep on using 25 percent of the world’s energy, even though you only account for 3 percent of the population, and we’ll be fine. Don’t worry about us. That’s not leadership." ~ Barack Obama
Btw..he’s full of it!

I have not seen them but I am not surprised to hear of them.
For people who have been watching for it, the propaganda campaign to sell the new world order began a few months ago. These ads are part of that.
For Heaven’s sakes … they even put Mr. New World Order himself .. Henry Kissinger, on air saying that Obama had now had a chance to implement the new world order … and he actually used the words "new world order" – on air!
New World Order is, simply put, eradication of the middle class everywhere – a one world government that blends socialism with high capitalism — high capitalism for the global elite – socialism for the other 99.99999% of us.
The ads are also an attempt to indoctrinate people into passively accepting the trillions of dollars that have gone to the elite through various bailouts and federal reserve "guarantees" and to passively accept the austerity measures that flow from that.
If you look back to the campaign, you can see that Michelle Obama started that "official line" way back then – don’t you recall her repetitively stating that Americans would have to sacrifice?
This is bad, bad, bad news.

THe problem is the youth do not know what hard times are and are over reacting. We should have more frequent recessions that are not as severe. Yes there is that domino affect. What gets me mad, is that we need to encourage spending from those who can, but our government in California is doing the opposite. THey are increasing our sales tax so people are even less likely to eat out. I get sick what people consider bad or poor. My father had to suffer the depression, and it sickens me, that they are comparing this to the depression . It shows that the elites are out of touch what poor is. It’s like Obama’s middle class task force. It doesn’t have a single person that can be considered middle class.
