Im ready to replace my old camry with a brand new car once I graduate next Spring. Im expecting to make -k. I have little debt and would like to buy a nice car. I also dont pay much for rent at my apartment,

From a financing point of view, how much should I spend?
I am waiting to get my job. Im not buying the car until next year. Just answer the question.

My monthly income is at the very least 0/month.
Would it be easier to afford an apartment for 0/month plus utilities or 0-0/month with all utilities included? (I’m not sure on the second price yet because the landlord is still working on the place, but he said 0 would the the most.)

I had to move out due to finance issues. I left them a letter stating that i couldnt pay rent after i was given a 3 day notice. Shortly after i was turned into a collection agency for the remainder of the lease. Come to find out the apartment was rented out with in 2 months of me leaving. Can i be charged while some one lives there. Florida resident T.Y

I live in a condo in Brooklyn, NY. it is around 830 square feet. My property tax is around 5,500 for the year. In my building I talked to a few people and their apartments are bigger and with a view and they pay around 2,100 for the year.

I called up The city of new york department of finance and I always get someone that says that property taxes are high and it is what my building management submitted when they built this building so I went to my building management and they said this has nothing to do with them.

Please help I dont have much money to file a lawyer or something what could I do. I mean isnt it common sense 830 square feet apartment cant run a property tax bill of that high. And if other people in building has bigger apartments how come theirs are cheaper I mean by 50 percent cheaper.

Please help.

I am finishing up high school and moving into my first apartment with my fiance and I am going to need a car to get to work and college and run errands… But I have to pay for all of it ( I don’t have rich parents that will buy me a car for my 18th) and i have to get it soon after turning 18 and most dealers wont give financing to people with no credit so what is the best way to go about getting a used car that is at least a 2001 so i don’t have problems with it breaking down on me all the time…. Any advice?

I have a friend who wants me to start a Corporation with him for the purpose of purchasing an apartment complex (currently housing mostly students). I’m curious if this is a sound strategy:
He wants to get 20% down payment thru the seller financing it by purchasing what in essence would be a corporate bond. We would get a mortgage for the other 80%. So the seller would give us the money for the bond( payable in 10 years at a 8% coupon rate for example), they would receive 80% of the purchase price upfront and would receive 20% of it in 10 years when the bond is due.
With that 20% we would purchase another income property with mostly cash.
If the seller goes along with this (which is a big if in my opinion) does it sound like a good idea?

I am deciding whether to purchase a 1bdrm apartment in Manhattan or to rent. I am planning on living in Manhattan for about 5 years, and want to know if this is worth the investment. The reason I ask is that I can not bear to throw away 30K a year on rent, rather, I’d like to spend that money on buying a place. My wife and I will most likely live in the city for about 5years and then sell the place to finance a home in the suburbs. Is the NYC market going to burst? Seems like in every other market, the housing market is on the decline but NYC is immune to this. Can someone please help shed some light on this topic and whether I should buy or rent now? I dont want to lose money on this investment and want to make the most well informed decision. THX!!!

I have bad credit now because of a eviction. I owe the apartment complex. I need to buy a car next month. Is it possible that I will be able to find a dealership with a bank that will finance me!?

We currently own a commercial property with a shop (my husband uses for his business) and two apartments. We use one apartment we rent the second for 0.00 mth. We would like to purchase a mobile home because they are inexpensive but we are getting to old to go up and down the stairs of the apartment. We do not have the downpayment. The mortgage is with a personal company and is interest only payments, we will never pay it off, but plan to sell it, although we anticipate it will take a long time to sell because of location and economy.

No, I’m not talking about allowing your church to do it for you…
Seriously… do you have any people living at your house who would be homeless without your help?
It’s 37 degrees outside and raining cats and dogs and there are people literally DYING for a hot meal and a warm place to sleep. I have two of them living in my home… under employed, can’t afford an apartment… would otherwise be starving to death and dying of exposure, homeless people.
And you call yourselves Christians… I’m a proud (headed straight to hell) atheist… and no I’m not rich. I’m two months behind on my mortgage.
@R.A Just because you’re greedy it’s no reason to think I don’t donate every chance I get. I gave away 3 handfulls of change in the last 3 days… but usually I just buy an extra burger and give it to the corner sign holder.

…and how come so many of you think I’m stupid? I checked these people out and and I’m charging low rent. They know I can throw them out in an instant but we have mutual respect. That doesn’t seem to be something Christians can do.

I am going to payoff my credit cards with my tax refund. I want to finance a car and get an apartment. I know with a low score I will pay alot of security deposit and high interest rate on car loans. I want to know when will my score be updated?
Should I pay the balances off or leave some money?

escrow for deposit on apartment
Someone wants me to wire transfer a deposit to an escrow account for an apartment. I haven’t met the person yet, so I’m wondering if this is legitimate. They did a background check through equifax and want to proceed with the wire transfer. The forms have Yahoo! Finance all over them, but I wasn’t sure that Yahoo! Finance does escrow, I though it was just an info site. This is all just a little weird to me.

I am hoping to earn my master’s degree at a German school, but I do not have enough money to pay for the necessary intensive language courses, or for furnishing an apartment. Neither of my parents has good enough credit to take out loans for me, and nobody else in my family is willing to co-sign. Are any alternative options available to finance this, especially paying rent and buying furniture?

He is not retarded, mentally handicapped nor challenged. He does not suffer from any mental illness far as I know (nothing very severe.) and yet he is mentally not there. For example, he tries to hang clothes all over his apartment without hangers and does not think about getting hangars (until I mentioned it to him.) He buys funiture that is about 1000 dollars yet refuses to buy a 5 dollar screwdriver to put the stuff together. He buys canned food and yet never even considers buying a can opener. The thought never enters his mind. How can I bring him back to reality? What may be causing this non-sensical behavior?

Not to mention the finances. I will not mention details of this however he is my roomate and the person I am supposedly be sharing expenses with. He cares about rent yet does not get the idea that saving money may actual help him with this. He can’t seem get the concept to his head. Help please.
He does not shave, wash himself nor his uniform for work unless I yell at him for it. May I remind you this is a 25 year old man I am talking about. Imagining having to babysit someone which in his own words says "The basic concepts don’t enter my mind, ever." Common sense is something he his lacking very much and it is to the point I have to baby him to do what a normal person does for themself.
I am not offended by suggesting he is stupid. However since he is my brother and finding people I can get along with is very dificult, I do want to help him out before bailing out on him. However, I am not his mother, not his father nor babysitter and should not have be one of those roles while I am his roomate.
No, he does not make alot of money. He works a minium wage job. Saving money should be the way he should handle future exspenses.
He one time tried to row a canoe to Russia. I am not kidding.

I am about to graduate from college with degrees in finance and business administration. However, I don’t really know what I want to do or where I want to live. I currently live in the midwest U.S., but I’d like to see what it’s like to live in other places before I decide where I want to settle down.

So, I was thinking that I could pack up my car, move somewhere, sublet an apartment, and do temp work for awhile. Although I don’t have much experience, I think I have excellent skills for temping. Let’s say, for example, I’d live in the Boston area for six months. Then, try someplace new again… say, Seattle, for example. After I have done this a couple times, I think I’d have a much better idea of where I should settle down and start my career, and also what it’s like to work in different environments.

So, does this sound like a boneheaded idea to you? Are there serious flaws in this plan that I don’t realize? If so, fire away!

Thanks.

Hey, I am 23 years old and have been married for 4 years to my high school sweetheart. We had been married since 2006. I worked at a motor home manufacturing plant for two years and ended up getting downsized. After that i started working for a painting outfit and have been with them for about two years. I was making around 14.00 dollars an hour but it was seasonal work (not much work during the winter) so we would go through some good financial times and then some tight times. but we always came out on top. We had been trying to get pregnant for a couple years since we both felt like we were at a stable enough point financially to have a child. after about 2 years of trying we decided that we probably couldn’t get pregnant and were just going to enjoy our freedom. It was at that point that we got pregnant. about 2 months into the pregnancy the economy took the nose dive and i was out of work. I spent the remainder of the next 7 months trying to find a job so that i could support my soon to be family. Needless to say it wasn’t long before savings dried up, unemployment went down because i had to renew it. We ended up having to sell the car we had a loan on, having to take out a loan to make up the difference because we were in over our heads in the car. then we lost our apartment and ended up moving in with a sister in our church. we have been living here for about a 3 months and its hard living out of a small bedroom. an just last month i got a job (finally) working for a home improvement center near where i live. it pays 9 dollars an hour and its only 30 hours a week. My wife and i sat down and did the math and at minimum i would have to work 40 hours a week every week to just barely make the minimum for living costs if we were to move out. And 2 weeks ago we were blessed with a handsome healthy baby boy. But the burden of my job as the husband is starting to wear me down. I know i have to work to support my family so there is no way im gonna not work for the home improvement place. but at the same time it wont really get me anywhere because the pay and hours are so low. I looked into going back to school to get a degree in something. but it did not play out as a option for us. i would have to go to college for a year at least just to qualify for some of the programs. then another 2 years at least to get the degree in what i was looking for. And going to school wouldn’t pay the bills for us to live on our own. So here i am writing this to you guys and gals to get a little advice or encouragement. Its starting to wear both my wife and i down physically and emotionally. We don’t want to be living with someone else for much longer but we cant get by on our own. Thanks for any help or advice.
~Dan

My husband and I recently married in March. We moved out of our apartment in hopes of buying a home. Only to find out that we are considered "punk kids" in the finance industry! We were considering buying a motor vehicle and making it our home until we could save a more substantial down payment. Is it possible to save and own a "parked" motor home? What are the downfalls/gains? Have I lost my mind?

I am a teacher. I was reading my union newspaper and I see a lot of mortgage/lending companies that offer such things as 100% financing and low interest rates. Is this something worth me considering to buy a home?

Also, I am married and my husband works as well (he’s not a teacher). I do have student loan obligations and a few credit card bills and little savings. We are currently trying to better our financial situation and save more.

We are moving to a new place in the next 8 months (rent or buy- whatever we are able to do at the time). If we rent, I know the payment will increase by 300-400 a month since we are getting a bigger apartment. If we can get a mortgage, then I really don’t know….. Anyway, help me out?

He just won’t get it. Every time I mention that he should look for his own apartment, he lays a guilt trip on me and says that I am a bad mother or that he would do just that when his finances improve, etc. .
What’s a sure way to get him out of the apartment because he won’t take this seriously, and I like to live alone.

My sister has been married for nine years and has four children. They have NEVER paid rent in their entire married life! First they lived at an apartment that was free because it was owned by their church. Then they lived with my 90-year-old grandmother, never paying for anything except for food which they never shared with her. After my grandmother was diagnosed with alzheimer and got to the point that she needed extra care they moved out not wanting to put forth any effort to helping her. My mother moved out of her house so they could move in and she took care of my grandmother until she was not physically able to anymore at which point I, living 700 miles away, left my husband and job and came and took care of her. I don’t begrudge my grandmother any of that. She and I were very close and I was very glad I was able to be with her when she passed away. I’m just saying if somebody offered me a roof over my head and my children’s heads for that matter, I would be a little more appreciative than just moving out when it became difficult to take care of her. Now my mother is stuck with my grandmother’s mortgage and trying to pay her own mortgage and they won’t even offer to help her. My mother doesn’t have a lot of money she’s 62 and is living on a VERY fixed income. My sister’s husband works full time and my sister is on disability making 1200 dollars a month just from that. My husband and I are moving back into the area and want my mother to sell both houses and move in with us. She is so worried about them she doesn’t know if she wants to. I say just sell them the house for what you owe on it and leave it at that. She is still hesitant. She is worried they won’t be able to pay it. I just can’t understand where all their money goes. They don’t have any bills except one car payment. I know it is her daughter and of course she wants to take care of her, but it is obvious my mother is drowning under all this financial strain. When my mother moves in then obviously I am in a position to say something, but what? I don’t want to sound heartless as my sister has just gone through intensive chemo for colon cancer. But she has always been like this. It’s not like they hit a rough patch and need a little help they have never paid anything. I just want to scream "YOU ARE A GROWN-ASS WOMAN AND A MOTHER. STEP UP AND ACT LIKE IT!"
