How is this info not valid? It's a perfectly legitimate article.?
http://www.samesexmarriage.ca/legal/ontario_case/appeal/pride_week_marriage.htm
clearly states:
“When (gay American) couples who marry in Canada come home — they will be as married as any people on the planet. That means, for example, the couples will identify as married on applications/forms for jobs, apartments, credit, mortgages, insurance, medical treatment, and taxes.”
That’s a quote from an article on June 13, 2003.
It clearly states that direct & loud. A gay marriage from Canada is recognized everywhere in the U.S.!
It clearly states that. That’s a quote. A direct quote.
yet I am hearing people tell me that this is not true.
but if it’s not true…….
How come Canada advertized commercials to invite gay Americans to get married in Canada?
and how come so many Americans traveled to Canada to get married?
and don’t tell me "it was for ceremonial purposes" because if it was for ceremonial purposes it could be done from the U.S., no need to go to Canada.
Even Wikipedia’s take on it says:
"Canada and the U.S. have a history of respecting marriages contracted in either country."

What kind of fresh moron are you? The "actual quote" from the article reads as follows:
"…marriages will be respected to varying degrees in various places…"
Learn to read. Even if it said that (which it most certainly does not), you have to consider the source. It is called not being an idiot.
If Canada started to recognize human-monkey marriages, would you expect the US to follow suit? Get a clue, man!

Sorry to say but that is NOT true. Canada is a sovereign foreign nation. Any marriages performed in Canada are not LEGALLY recognized in the United States of America.
Alot of gay couples went to Canada to get married simply for the ceremonial and symbolic purposes. They know their marriage isn’t recognized in the United States, but to them they are as good as married. Alot of gay people wanted to go through the ceremony, even if it isn’t legally recognized.

i’m gonna take a guess and say its not valid because that article is six years old. how many times has this issue gone through the system and been legalized, and then denied again in the last couple years?

All civilized states recognize the public acts of other civilized states — providede they are not against the law or public policy of the recognizing state. Otherwise 19th century Britain would have had to to recognize the chattel status of slaves brought to Britain by Americans & slavery would have been institutionalized in Britain. American states that do not permit same sex marriage or plural marriage or marriage between 9 year olds or between the living and the dead (all of which are recognized in one or more other countries) do not recognize such marriages when contracted in states — or provinces — that do permit them, for the same reason: It is against their laws and public policy as expressed by their legislature.

The problem with the internet is that anyone can write any "legitimate article’ they choose, and you have no way of knowing whether it’s the truth or not.
I can tell you that the policy of the US is to recognize marriages contracted in other countries so long as they would be permitted in the US.
If you, as a male adult, travel to Canada and marry your adult girlfriend, the USA will recognize that marriage. If you marry your boyfriend, that marriage will not be recognized in the US even it’s legal in Canada.
On the other hand, this is the Internet too. I may be talking through my hat and the US may in fact recognize a marriage between a 53 year old prophet and his 9 year old wife if it’s legal in Saudi Arabia.
You decide.
