My future Mother-in-Law is absolutely the most crazy person I have ever met. She verbally attacks my fiance and is extremely phony. She acts friendly to your face and stabs you in the back the minute you aren’t looking. My boyfriend just finished culinary arts school and she wants to take out a home equity loan out and open a restaurant and be partners. First of all, that is just dumb. If the business fails, then she loses her house. My fiance is trying so hard to cut the apron strings and she just keeps trying to hold on. Not to mention she hates me, and I’ve done nothing to her or her family. She wants to be supported financially, yet she treats people like garbage and claims she is a church woman cuz she reads the bible and goes to church. My fiance is starting to resent his mother and that is just sad. So with that said, any suggestions?

I heard somewhere that the Roman Catholic Church will pay your student loans if you join the seminary. Is this true, and if so, what happens if you leave the seminary right before you become a priest?

I am a reformed skeptic (if that’s possible) from all the mis-truths I’ve learned about gifting. It’s a pyramid, it’s not legal, only one person gets paid etc.etc,etc. Why is it o.k. for you to tithe to a church but not to a person? I’m asking this question to really get serious answers. I recently was a member at a local church and every week they talked about the importance of giving. When another member asked a clergy for help with their mortgage the clergy responded with "there is nothing the church can do financially but we will pray about it" I’m spiritual but WHATTTTT!!!!! Here you have a member who’s probably tithed for all her life and now she’s about to loose her home and there is no help from the one resource we all give credit to for a place for help?

My fiance and I are trying to get a commercial loan for a rental property. He has a credit score of about 680, and I have a score of 554, what are our chances of getting this loan? I have the worst score, but I make the most money.

i belong to a united church of canada….and we need to pay back a loan, lol.
we are a really laid back church, but sometimes during our fundraising efforts they tend to be too churchy, causing people not to be interested.
well since i always complain, they have made me in charge of the next big fundraiser. and i’ve been told i can do anything i want to.
and since we need to pay back this loan, i want to make this huge…and not churchy at all.
any ideas?

I need money to get legal council for my son that is being falsely accused of a horrendous crime. Attorney fees, a forensic trial consultant, specialized testing all comes to 00!
My son is a good person, 20 yrs old, full time employed, full time college student, doesnt drink, smoke, attends church. He IS innocent.
I will do anything to help defend him, I cannot get a loan, filed bankruptcy last year, horrible credit.
I dont care the consequences, I will do anything for this loan. Can anyone out there help? I will provide any proof of this being true that you need.

and therefore that is breaking the 10 commandments…

However, many posted Friday that this is the fault of the credit card companies and mortgage lenders for loaning to people with questionable credit….

So, is sinning justified, if other’s entice us to commit it?

I still remain…that if you use a credit card…you are obligated to pay back the amount…if you take a loan etc…you should pay it back…you should not file bankruptcy…or it is stealing…if you have financial problems because of unforeseen circumstances…shouldn’t the church help you with your debt…in order to keep you from sinning?

Why should it be up to the middle class consumer to have to pay more for goods and services because other’s make such poor choices?

I ask this in religion…because I believe Christians should be held to a higher standard…yet the bankruptcy rate is equal among those that call themselves evangelicals and others according to Newsweek…
why do Christians try to justify this sin?

Yes, I posted this yesterday…wanted additional input.

The constitution, as liberals like to point out, calls for the separation of church and state. So taking student loans from the government and using it to pay for a catholic education is a violation of the separation of church and state rules.

This is very similar to the argument of using vouchers to pay for a child to go to a non-public school.

So will these schools be required to come up with their own loan programs to make college affordable for their potential students?

Is it not just a good to contribute to specific causes that promote Christianity?

Last year I gave some to the Churches regular budget, but gave as much or more specifically to pay back a loan on a building project (because I don’t like a church to carry a debt) and to GAP ministries which builds churches and clinics in Mexico (because I feel my money does more in mexico, and have personally seen that this program wastes little money)
I ask partially because I was advised by a friend that that was undermining the local church – with which I disagree.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

I own an apartment in Sao Paulo, Brazil that I am looking to refinance, with a higher loan value (increase the value of loan). The current value is USD 1,000,000 and I have a mortgage with a Brazilian bank. The mortgage is equivalent of USD 500,000 giving a loan to value of 50%. Refinancing is very difficult in Brazil – the main banks DO NOT offer this product. I am therefore looking to find an international lender/private lender who is willing to provide this type of financing.

I am an expat partner with one of the big-4 professional services firms, based in Brazil, with a very good income and credit history. Property financing in Brazil is very different to what I have experienced..

Considering that I may need to consider alternative options (for example, international lender) I will also take appropriate legal advice.

Any suggestions?

Has anyone out there with student loans gotten a loan deferment of forebearance while they did some church service? I have taken out about ,800 in student loans from the Fed Department of Education, and am thinking of serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The mission is two years long, when I return I plan on continuing full-time at school. I’m just curious to know what other people’s experice with this is, if they’ve been able to put off repaying their loans while they were on the mission. (if there is anyone else out there who did what I’m doing, haha!) Positive and serious answers only please, thanks!

I am not sure if it is saying the owner owns the majority except for so and so piece of property which is a joint venture with a bank???

Well I know banks aren’t in the real estate business which is why this part doesn’t make sense to me. Is it because someone else had bought a certain plot from the owner with a loan and it got reposessed or what? Please help me clarify as I am interested in the piece of land that it is saying (I think) that the bank owns. This is the ad:

+/- 27.29 Acres of Land Owner Financing / Joint Venture Opportunity Bank owned property +/- 1780 Linear Feet of Frontage on I-10 +/- 750 Linear Feet of Frontage on N Caldwell St

Thank you for your feedback!

I read something recently on the Christian Science Monitor’s web site about how some pastors in different cities, towns, and states who pastored Word of Faith movement churches also held secular jobs as loan officers and helped some members of their churches successfully apply for new home loans and get them when the people really didn’t have the financial ability to pay those loans,or,even have the ability to buy or even rent a new home.

This editorial opinion was titled the same as my question, and, the writer also wrote that some people at this one pastor’s Word of Faith church in Virginia testified how God helped them financially as far as getting a home loan was concerned, but, the writer also found out that the pastor’s secular job was as a full time loan officer for either a local bank or a real estate agency,I don’t remember which it was.

Is it possible that this man and others like him did something illegal?

My fiancee is a US Army Ranger and his deployment date just recently got moved up. As it was, we were already strugglin for a way for me to be able to go up to see him since at the last minute they told us he would not be able to come say his goodbyes. This could not have come at a worse time, and we’ve tried loans, charities, churches, but NOTHING! Airline employees have been willing to help but the ones that are willing do not fly out of our hometown. CAN ANYONE HELP?!?!? The departure is from El Paso, TX and the destination is Syracuse, NY. PLEASE!

It’s happening in Michigan. So many people are unemployed and thus unable to contribute financially to their places of worship. Some churches cannot pay the mortgages or payroll and have to close the doors. Other churches find themselves struggling to get by and have had to cut back on community outreach programs.

What is significant about this is there is an entire population in Michigan who depend on churches and other nonprofits to provide food and financial assistance to supplement their incomes or their welfare payments. The food banks don’t have enough to go around, even the ones that are not faith-based. Many charities used to pay heat and electric bills for struggling families, but they can’t do that anymore either. The result is more hopelessness, more desperation, and more crime.

Is this happening anywhere else?

I’m 21 years old and still don’t own a vehicle. I have no family to rely on to help. I’ve been working at the same company for over 2 years now and renting from the same apartment complex for over 2 years. I thought because I didn’t have bad credit, that I would just take a lower amount. Only credit I can get are high amounts with high APR. I don’t want that, because I know its not serious and I wont be able to pay it off. Is there a company that will give me a loan for financing that isn’t a scam? Where do average middle class Americans go to get auto financing?

My friend’s pastor & his wife live in a house next to the church on the same property. Its a smallish, rural church, with one full time pastor. In the past, all the pastors they have had have lived in that house. When they quit being the pastor they had to move.

So I’m curious, and my friend didnt know: If the pastor keeps on being pastor til he is too old to give sermons anymore, then what? It wouldn’t be very church-like to kick him out in his old age. But if the old pastor keeps living there, what do they do for/with a new pastor? Then, if the old pastor dies in the house, the new one wont want to live there will he? So what does the church do?

Also, since he’s full time and the church pays his salary, does the church pay him less because he doesnt have rent or a mortgage to pay for (since he lives in that house by the church)? Who decides how much he gets paid? It wouldn’t be right if HE did, would it? Do the deacons vote or something, how does it usually work?

I worked for a Chruch/daycare. I loaned them ,500 (in Aug2008) the loan went in the churches name. I was suppose to get 0 a pay period starting in Sept. 2008. This was an interest free loan!!! It has now been like 7-8months now I have only recieved 0. Well last month they shut the daycare and church down! I am now laid off. The only reason i got some of it was because my dog was very sick and i had nothing to pay the bill with and I had to beg for it. Every time i would ask i would be told next pay day. I was told at the beg of march i should have started to get paid at the end march. Well it is the begining of April and nothing! The pastor told me that he would pay me back still. Since he was suppose to financially back the church til it got on it feet! Do i have the right to sue.
the business failed cause of him and his wife. She had no business sense and he wouldnt speak up about it. Yes i know this is a church blah blah blah. BUT i have done way more than that for them but i need my money now more than ever. I worked lots of over time hours and never got paid for them! I did lots off the clock.sometime 15 hours a week. Was promised lots raises and never got them. Took the director postion without getting a pay raise I was getting half of the average pay for someone with my job. Suppose to have a work/personal cell phone It was always getting shut off I couldnt relay on it. All i asked was for them tell me if it is going to get shut off so i could plan for it since it was my only phone!! ( i had my own before they just told me it made no sense to pay for it so i switched to theirs). I was def. taken advantage of but all i am asking for is my money. The rest of it i dont care about. I am not sure about the ethical stuff for sueing a church or if i can get away with sueing the pastor and his wife since the church folded. I dont want to be the person to sue anyone but i feel like i 1 need to show them what they did was wrong and 2 they wont give me what is mine unless someone makes them.

* the loan was mainly for them because they were supporting the daycare and had no money for their bills either. But the pastor wanted to make it a business loan* PLUS money was taken out the following day for a "business conference" where there son lived paid for their hotel stay and meals. no reciepts were given. (Ohh i know cause i did the fiancially paper work for the daycare at the time but stepped down for disagreement in budgeting and process. )This was a very samll chruch the pastor started it. Okay sorry so long but i just dont know what to do! Any advice would be greatly appretiated!!!
The check i wrote to them that they cashed was written to the chruch said loan on it and i have the canceled check. but other than that there is no agreement in writing it was all verbal.

Can a religious corporation provide insurance to all of its churches under its control? For instance, if the church’s headquarters is located in New York and it owns or provides loans on physical structures across the USA, can the corporation receive insurance payments from those individual churches? Headquarters will send invoices for payment and the individual church congregations will pay the bill. In case of a catastrophic loss, headquarters will pay for the loss.

But my question is, can an non-profit entity avoid the paying of taxes with such a format?

I have just filed a restraining order on my ex-husband. He has shown 11 years of consistant physical and emotional abuse and manipulation towards me and I’m just now learning recently physical abuse towards my 2 children during the times I was at work last year before he abandoned us. My son was too scared to tell me until now. He abandoned us in November and lied consistantly about an affair he was having with his now wife whom he married the day we divorced. When he left, I had no family, friends and had to make this transition and take care of my children to ensure their safety and welbeing completely alone. He’s military and was obligated on helping us make our move when I transfered my job and no one could find him during that time. It’s a year later and now all of a sudden he’s making demands on seeing his kids under his own circumstances. He disappeared in November of last year, I had to deal with the daycare, work a full time job and support my children and my own emotional confusion in it’s entirety all alone. When I would try to contact him for any kind of help he blew me off. In December he made an appearance for Xmas and that’s it. In January he suddenly showed up at my house threatening to remove the kids from the home out of nowhere and I called the cops and they charged him with intimidation and put a no contact order on him until the divorce. Before the no contact order, he showed no interest in the kids and I have a statement from my daycare to back me up on top of the police reports. In March, I paid for the divorce in it’s entirety. He claimed my daughter on his taxes and made it to H R Block before I got my W-2’s in order to claim both children after he promised me I could claim them both. I was set back when I was surprised he claimed my daughter. He sent me very little money on his own and my children and I had to scrape at the bottom of the barrel to survive and make this transition. In March, I went to Child Support Enforcement to get his wages garnished because he said he wasn’t going to pay me because I had no respect for him. In April, I googled his name and found a myspace account with 200 wedding pictures from him and his new wife. He promised me up and down there wasn’t another woman in the picture and he married the day we were divorced in the state of Texas, we’re in Montana. I never would have known about this had I not found out on my own. In this album, he took her on 4 vacations and bought her a huge rock, recently purchased a 300 thousand dollar home and is driving a 65 thousand dollar SUV. In May, I texted him asking him for help and to ask him to cooperate and have a relationship with his kids and he blew me off and I still hadn’t recieved my first child support check yet, had to work overtimes just to pay the bills, went to my church and they helped me with my first mortgage payment. When I filed for divorce, he threw in my face that since I was the one that filed, I could do things in the motion that was convenient for him and that I was the one that destroyed the marriage. I filed for divorce because he disappeared, said it was over and refused to work things out. I had no cooperation on his part and I needed him to sign the divorce papers by a certain date because I needed the divorce decree in order to close on mine and my childrens home and he knew that and threw in my face that he’s doing this because he knows I want a fight and he’s giving me what I want. In August, he emailed me demanding to see the kids and that I would be in contempt of court if I didn’t. I reminded him he still hasn’t given me his information the court ordered him to give me. He said that wasn’t his responsiblity. I refused to let him see the kids without his chain of command or his orders so I know he’s not going to disappear with them. I don’t know what the all of a sudden interest in the kids are. Last month, my son told me about consistant abuse towards him and my daughter during the times I was at work. I just recently got more texts from him as of last week finally giving me his address SEVEN months after the divorce and I found the 300 thousand dollar house him and his new wife purchased and have found out they’re due to have a baby anytime. The judge has issued a temporary restraining order on him and I have a hearing on the 30th. I have full custody, however he has certain visitation days, the reason I did that was because I knew if I didn’t give him anything at all, he would have fought me and I didn’t have the money or time to fight. I wanted to get it over with and was under the impression afterwards, he would disappear for good, but he keeps popping up now with threats and demands. I have reminded him of the abuse and he keeps throwing God in my face with sudden salvation being he married a Christian woman who he’s trying to impress. He said that God has forgiven him for all the mean things he’s done and it’s my problem that I can’t move past
