obl went on and on in his latest video about how much the world hates America for the Iraq war, how Bush has failed to sign the kyoto agreement, the mortgage crisis,..he even praised Noam Chomskey, (the lord, king, god, of the left) the only thing he parted ways with mainstream democrats was on "insane taxes" and a plea to convert to islam,,…somebody really ought to tell obl that democrats have commited their souls to "the peoples enviromental/climate change/global warming/cooling church"..
edge…if YOU learned how to read, you would know that i DID point out that obl was against libs on taxes…talk about the pot calling the kettle black!! jeez!

The people in her church are the scientific masterminds of this earth and everything beyond? Should people stop paying all that money for ANTH courses and just drop their tithing at her church? I feel so foolish wasting years and getting into debt over student loans….Where would I be if I had only met her sooner? (Boss isn’t in yet, can you tell?)
Not eavesdropping. She yells when she is on the phone. I wouldn’t report her for anything! I get a "bang" out of her! I would be hypocritical playing online like I do!

The church publishes financial information because of the law. They have over 0 million in savings right now for the 200,000 members. They only spend million a year on an income of million annually. So this gives them around 10 years of a cushion even if all members stopped paying tithing. But their policy anyways is to spend less then they make so they can easily lower expenses when they want. in addition, this is the income for that country only. Salt lake guarantees to support them financially if they are short.

Unlike most churches who are in the red every year with no savings. They either apply for loans or fire staff just to survive.
which part is unfounded?
Right. this is just for the UK. the same exact principles are applied everywhere.

Church of Scientology Convicted of Fraud in France

AP
Eric Roux, legal representative of the Church of Scientology in France, speaks to reporters after a court returned a verdict of fraud against the group, at a Paris courthouse, Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009. A Paris court on Tuesday convicted the Church of Scientology of fraud and fined it more than half a million euros, but stopped short of banning the group as requested by prosecutors.
By NICOLAS VAUX-MONTAGNY, Associated Press Writer Nicolas Vaux-montagny, Associated Press Writer – 2 mins ago
PARIS – A Paris court convicted the Church of Scientology of fraud and fined it more than euro600,000 (0,000) on Tuesday, but stopped short of banning the group’s activities.
The group’s French branch said it would appeal the verdict.
The court convicted the Church of Scientology’s French office, its library and six of its leaders of organized fraud. Investigators said the group pressured members into paying large sums of money for questionable financial gain and used "commercial harassment" against recruits.
The group was fined euro400,000 (0,000) and the library euro200,000. Four of the leaders were given suspended sentences of between 10 months and two years. The other two were given fines of euro1,000 and euro2,000.
Prosecutors had urged that the group be disbanded in France and fined euro2 million. A law that was briefly on the books this year prevented the court from going so far as to disband the French branch of Scientology in Tuesday’s verdict — though it could have taken the lesser step of shutting down its operations.
However, the court did not do so, ruling that French Scientologists would have continued their activities anyway "outside any legal framework."
A spokeswoman for the French branch of Scientology, Agnes Bron, said the verdict was "an Inquisition of modern times," a reference to efforts to rout out heretics of the Roman Catholic Church in centuries past.
"It’s really all bark and no bite," said the spokesman of the Church of Scientology International, Tommy Davis. "The church will emerge victorious on appeal."
Speaking by telephone from New York, Davis said the Church of Scientology was prepared to take the case to the European Court of Human Rights.
The head of a French association that helps victims of sects called the verdict "intelligent."
"Scientology can no longer hide behind freedom of conscience," Catherine Picard said.
The Los Angeles-based Church of Scientology, founded in 1954 by the late science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard, has been active for decades in Europe, but has struggled to gain status as a religion. It is considered a sect in France and has faced prosecution and difficulties in registering its activities in many countries.
Defense lawyer Patrick Maisonneuve said during the trial that neither the Church of Scientology nor the six leaders on trial had gained financially from the group’s practices.
The original complaint in the case dates back more than a decade, when a young woman said she took out loans and spent the equivalent of euro21,000 on books, courses and "purification packages" after being recruited in 1998. When she sought reimbursement and to leave the group, its leadership refused. She was among three eventual plaintiffs.
Olivier Morice, lawyer for civil parties in the case, said the verdict was "historic" because it was the first time in France that the Church of Scientology has been convicted of organized fraud.
Investigating Judge Jean-Christophe Hullin spent years examining the group’s activities, and in his indictment criticized what he called the Scientologists’ "obsession" with financial gain and practices he said were aimed at plunging members into a "state of subjection."
The Church of Scientology teaches that technology can expand the mind and help solve problems. It claims 10 million members around the world, including celebrity devotees Tom Cruise and John Travolta.
Belgium, Germany and other European countries have been criticized by the U.S. State Department for labeling Scientology as a cult or sect and enacting laws to restrict its operations.

If so, what do you think the Christian churches of the United States should be doing in this time of widepsread poverty, when nearly 10% of Americans are unsuccessfully seeking work, and about 20% of all home mortgages in the US are in danger of foreclosure by the banks?

Does your church or your religious denomination have a good plan for tackling poverty on this scale?

If so, what is it?

With their 500%+ APRs and lame exploit of the usury of late fees?

Is it because priests and pastors no longer condemn the ’sin’ of usury like they have in the past?

Is it because denominations are gullible and have become more so of late?

I find it laughably obvious that these organizations cut so deeply into the pockets of these church goers and therefore the ‘tithe’ profits of churches, and then these same churches turn around and declare war on atheists for it. Don’t tell me they don’t. Churches are more likely to go around looking for enemas when they need to stir the pot because their profits are down.

RETARDS.
got_air, look them up yourself, it isn’t worth the work to share it with a bunch of retards.

Is there something wrong with me for thinking this is wrong and that my brother, sister and I should get something??? He moved out of state a few years ago because he said that’s where the Lord lead him to be. I go visit when I can but can’t be there every day like his church family can. He’s 70+ and needs help sometimes and they’re there.
It’s not like we’re going to starve without an inheritance. We all have jobs and are buying our homes, have never been in trouble with the law. We all go to church and are believers but this hurts. It’s totally digging at my psyche. How come he doesn’t want to share with his family? He’s been divorced from our mom since I was a little girl. He’s never been really close to any one of us kids…My sister has no fond memories of him. My brother has been drinking a lot lately and my dad knows this. My mom has horror stories that I thankfully don’t remember…Three years ago, he was talking about giving each of us kids ,000 each per year to help pay our mortgages but something changed his mind. I know my dad is in a lot of pain and is taking medication for it. Could this be affecting how he sees his family?

Hello,
I’m having trouble with my husband deciding whether to buy a piece of land or not.
A little while ago, about 2 months, we bought (well we are making payments) half an acre with 10% interest for ,000 in an out of area place. Now, there’s a family at church that wants to transfer us their land which is not that far as the one we are already making payments at, but it’s more expensive. It’s selling for ,000, 12% interest, irregular lot but about half an acre. My husband wants to buy it because he says it would be another asset that we would have in the future, and later on, we might re-sell it. BUT, I’m not very convinced.

a 12% sounds too high for me. He doesn’t have good credit right now, but it’s been a year since we are trying to fix it….and we are getting there. Right now it’s 650…..and in the next two years we are planning on getting loans and paying them back always on time so that it can go up at least to 750 if possible. My thinking is that we could get a loan once the credit is fixed for a much lower interest rate and bigger lot. (if not, we’ll stay with the one we have)……
but since I can see the economy is not very good right now..and we never know what could happen if it be possible to get a loan in the future or not…..
please let me know…..should i agree with my husband or tell him that the interest rate is too high and it’d be better for us to while 2 years at least and fix the credit?

I was tlaking with this lady at church yesterday who is a real estate agent, Around 60 years old.

My income tax refund was intercepted because of outstanding student loans. The following year, I had a back injury and couldn’t work. I lived in low income housing and depended on a church food bank for food. So I didn’t file. The following year, I was able to work, but low income, and again didn’t file, unable to pay to have my taxes done. I still cannot afford a professional preparer to catch me up, and am afraid to talk to IRS. What now?

Okay, hello.
I have posted this question a few times, but it is come up again.. I thought I could get something handled by them, but they are not making it easy.
So, I was on staff at the Church of ******** and they pressured me into using my car. Now, I was going on vacation, so I DID offer for them to have use of my car, but it was used by another staff member.. we did get paid. Longer story short, they totaled it. Now, it WAS the other person’s fault, not the driver of my car’s… which, I did not give THIS particular driver who wrecked my car PERMISSION to use it!!
But anyways, so she was not at fault the other driver was.. BUT STILL.. the church claims they do not have insurance, since at the time they did not have a car!
Seems crazy for this particular church since it IS a business, meaning people go there, pay money, to get services, auditing, etc.. take courses.

Okay, so this caused HUGE stir in me and what I should do.. part of me didn’t honestly care that much, I have bigger THINGS to worry about and just wanted to do the right thing for MY parents, who REALLY helped pay the 00 for the damages.

To make matters worse, man this is a horrible situation for me to be in..
because I really do LOVE this church and what abilities I have gained from them, but it still doesn’t excuse them for not being responsible.
So, my dad was PISSED to say the least that they did not want to take responsibilty for what happened to my car.. I loaned it to them on good faith, they get in an accident and I have not seen ONE PERSON at the org do ANYTHING about it!! it’s mind blowing!!

So, it gets much worse.. so this new lady the Ethics officer comes in a few years later, and I tell her what happened, this was last year.. finally someone is going to do something about it!! but, wait, they are not taking my side on this and making it seem, like well, I am the one who LEANT the car, so I should be resposible and not the church. PLUS, they are sayign it’s the INDIVIDUAL people who are responsible not the ‘church’ AT LARGE!
I felt this way for years, but now realize.. NO, they were on CHURCH business, using MY CAR because they did not have one.. they should have responsibility in the situation!!!
So, they had a meeting BEHIND MY BACK, while I was at work that my mom DID NOT TELL ME ABOUT for 5 months!!
this part is what gets me sooooo angry!
I was invited to the meeting, but I had to work, and I knew that they were twisting the story around to not be responsible, and try to make ME somehow be in the wrong!!
I KNOW, NICE CHURCH, EH??
So, I went up lines, at the organizatin, before and during this meeting WITHOUT KNOWING this meeting took place to try to get someone else on MY SIDE about the situation, and HELP ME!!
I really loved the church and wanted to expose my parents to it, but I wanted everything to go well, and this bad PR shit that the church has going on, is not helping us ONE BIT!!!

Anyways, so I have thought long and HARD about suing them.. I haven’t yet, one because the statue of limitations is already gone.. but I COULD sue them in SMALL claims court which is better than nothing!!
oh, i forgot to mention that at this mEETING that I was not told aobut my mom AGREED to take 0 !!! when originally the damages were 00!!!! OMG!! I WAS SOOOO MAD!! especially because of all the hard work I’ve been doing UP ABOVE my church to make sure it was handled correctly!!
anyways, I called and asked this Ethics officer, what was going on , as I finally received a letter back from them saying that it was all taken care of at the local org..
I thought.. hUM… great!! not what I was hoping for!!
So, I call the person in charge who makes me feel like a fool for not knowing it’s already handled!!
Then, I go to the ethics officer, Mary, who says IT’S NOT handled yet, and it , get this, "WOULDN’T BE FAIR" FOR me to find out yet, since they weren’t for sure what’s happenign!!!!!!
OMG!! I THOUGHT.. wouldn’t be fucking fair!!!
UH, WAIT a minute.. ??
so I tell my mom this story.. THIS IS BEFORE knowing she went to the meeting and agreed, and she was upset, by me, so she called Mary herself… now meanwhile, my mom had been secretly waiting.. meaning nOT telling me, that she was waiting for the 0 that she agreed to 5 months ago!!!
I know this sounds REALLY COMPLICATED.. but it’s really not!
So, Mary told her, to come down and she could COLLECT THE MONEY!!!!
After Mary just told me NOTHING HAD BEEN agreed upon yet, and It wouldn’t be FAIR OF ME TO FIND OUT!!!/?????
I AM SOOOOOOOOOO BEYOND words how that makes me feel.. sooo betrayed!!!

So, question, do I sue, do I try HARDER to get them to help me out and do the RIGHT THING??

I know I’M MAKING THIS SOUND horrible, and it is.. but
honestly, part of me just wants to get this OVER WITH!!

Thanks, if you read all that!!;)

p.s. i had LIABILITY oNLY not full coverage..
p.p.s.. the person that hit Janice, the lady driving my car, had
I TRIED getting a lean on the lease of the driver who hit Janice, in my car..
but first off, the other driver was a loser who tried to leave the scene of the accident, and THEN, was flagged down by someone else..
he provided FAKE insurance at the scene of the accident.
because he was a loser, anyways, I put out something.. so when he went to register his car, they would take the car, sell it, and give us the money.. or so, that’s what we were lead to believe..
anyways, it NEVER happened, that guy got away SCOTT FREE.. and was not held responsible, for not only having FALSE info at the scene, but for my car as well..
whatever to the smartass who’s telling me to WISE UP.. I told Elena the person I gave the car to ONLY THAT person.. could drive my car.. it isn’t up to the CHURCH./? give me a break??
wtf??

And if you choose to address the question of ongoing home foreclosures in the US, could you add what you think is the best way to approach this crisis "spiritually" ?

Is this a social and economic problem that the churches & mosques & synagogues should be handling, exclusively?

Is it a situation that a secular government should be handling, exclusively?

Is it a situation that people with "underwater" mortgages can only handle well if they’re Christians — or Jews — or Muslims — or atheists?

Or is it a problem requiring a mix of different approaches?

(more commonly known as the loaning of money at interest), however the Church no longer teaches this (in fact, even the Vatican itself owns a bank).

Does anyone know anything about the history of this change in teaching? The circumstances that led to it? Who (Pope) or What (Council) changed this teaching? And what was his/their justification for doing so?

Thank You.
The following councils, in no uncertain terms, condemn the practice of usury (in all forms) precisely because money is said to have no inherent value, and so any interest collected would be interest on the pain of the borrower:

- Council of Arles (314) Canon 12
- Ecumenical Council of Nicaea I (325) Canon 17
- Carthage (348) Canon 3
- Laodicea (343-381) Canon 4
- Council of Mainz (813)
- Council of Rheims (813)
- Council of Chalons (813)
- Council of Aix (816)
- Second Ecumenical Council of the Lateran (1139) Canon 13
- Ecumenical Council of Vienne (1311-1312) Canon 29

I don’t think these can easily be swept under the rug as some kind of "different form of usury".

These are cash contribs made throughout the year to my church made in my child’s name (teach her the value of giving). The church sends a tithe receipt in her name, along with a separate receipt in my name.

My child is a minor, has no income (not even int/div). Haven’t been able to find anything definitive on IRS.gov on whether to take the deduction myself.

I file MFJ w/ my wife, itemize every year we’ve had a house and mortgage.

A large amount of the commercial loans start coming to term this year (lasting three years). None of them are worth what’s owed and will be defaulted on.

According to the media, the tea parties are mainly opposed to the Democrat takeover of health care, GM, Chrystler, student loans and a number of other things only because Barney Frank is gay and possibly because John Lewis is black.

Is opposing Obamacare now synonymous to burning a cross on a black church’s lawn?

I can’t think of any other reason to oppose a government takeover of healthcare.

I own a business and am incorporated. I am considering filing bankruptcy but don’t want to include my personal debts (car payments) because I will pay those without disruption simply by getting a job. I want to find out about my business debts and if I can file bankruptcy on those and not involve my personal finances. I rent an apartment and pay car payments and do not outright own anything.

Do you get to the part where Jesus asks the believer if they visited the sick, helped the poor and visited those in prison, and worry that Jesus is planning on throwing you into the eternal Lake of Fire prepared for the Devil and his hosts?

I mean lets be serious for a second, you and I both know that most of us have never visited a prisoner, and rarely visit the sick, unless they are related to us or happen to be in church. As far as helping the poor, we should be honest and admit that almost all of our charity simply goes towards paying off the church mortgage and keeping the church lawn mowed.

So given the very clear description of the Goats in Jesus’ parable, aren’t you a little worried about his notion of justice?

Now that Obama has had the government take over student loans, how long will it take the ACLU to say that Federal Funding of these organizations is a violation of the seperation of church and state clause.

Is that they same argument against using vouchers to pay for private grade and high schools?

I owe a bill for 0. for ambulance service. I’m in a rural area and there was no one to take me to the hospital. My disability is only 0. and I just can’t pay it. I don’t have credit. My account will be frozen until I pay it. Is there anything I can do? Is this legal? I have no relatives and my church, now my former church, said they would "loan" it to me after years of paying tides, but they want all of it at once.
