if you are a pastor under a senior pastor or overseer, can you take paper, tithe envelopes, church membership registeration forms, money, write check to relatives for work you call :work done around the church without receipts, or any explanation of work? Clean out the bank account and say it is only fair because more members joined while you are there. You spent you money out of you account to help pay some expenses. There is not mortgage on the property and everything is debth free. Only some tax that was because the property had not been declared tax exempt because of delay.

I went through a bitter divorce and am stranded 5000 miles away from my entire family. I can’t afford to get home and I’m about to be homeless here so I decided to ask a wealthy friend of my mother’s for a loan. I’m sending her an email and wanted ya’ll thoughts on it and on asking someone I barely know for money?

Dr. BLANK

I want to first apologize for the purpose of this email. Its unbelievably rude of me to do so but I’ve tried everything I can to do things on my own and have failed miserably. Writing to you is sort of a last ditch effort.

I’m sure your aware of some of the trials I’ve had in 2008. I’ve unfortunately never been able to get my feet back under me. The last 6months or so have been a major struggle. I’m living in the spare room of a friend and her family. Living with them at first was good but its become increasingly toxic due to her husband.

In December my lease is up and he has made it clear that by the 20th I’m out. I am unable to afford to live on my own. I‘m a waitress and am unable to make ends meet. For several months I brought home less than 00. I’m no longer financially able to take care of myself. I’ve had to have the church help with rent twice and am facing having to ask them for help again. I’ve tried to get public assistance but because I have roommates I don’t qualify.

The cost of living in this area is far beyond my current ability. My best chance to recover is to get back home. But I can’t afford to get home either. It would cost me somewhere between 00-3000 to ship my things and fly home. I can barely keep my account out of the red most months let alone save up that kind of money.

Because of the divorce my credit is tanked so getting a bank loan isn’t available. This is why I’ve written to you. I wanted to know if there is anyway that I can work something out with you . I’d be willing to work of the money or pay at it back as soon as I’m able to get a job back home. I’d also get a receipt for every penny spent.

I know its incredibly inappropriate to ask you for this I just don’t know where else to turn. Given the state of my credit score I could see why you would consider this a poor investment and say no….that’s completely understandable and I’d be totally ok with that.

If you could email me or call me I’d appreciate it. Just by you taking the time to read this email I’m more grateful than I have words for. I sincerely apologize again for even asking you.

My church recently sent me a letter that it cost them ,500.00 a week for us to have sunday mass. And that they wanted everyone to pay at least that for a pledge. And if you had to pay what you could pay then there was a minimum to that and it was ,000.00 per person per year.Thats what I pay on my mortgage a year. They needed the money to pay off ,000.00 on there building fund. And that they needed this to meet there match program that paid . for every of new money after the pledges were made. They also asked the people that made pledges already to up them 10% more. They closed by threatening to come to our houses if they couldn’t get it done.I thought that worshiping God was free. I don’t think that God ment for churches to threaten us like that. If you want a copy of letter to prove what I’m saying is true, then email: ath4554@embarqmail.com. and I will send it to you.

I am reviewing a co-op apartment building’s financial statements and it gets really confusing. The management office says they report losses or deficits because they operate as a not-for-profit entity. They refinanced their 2 balloon mortgages with high interest (7.7% rate) into a smaller interest (5.8%) fixed-rate mortgage but from mil to mil amounts to capitalize and fund renovations (i.e. window replacement for entire building in 2005 .5 mil) and boosted the reserve funds to over million. But this is done at the cost of putting the building and the co-op shareholders into more deficit. Is it smart financing, or irresponsible fiscal management? The building is a luxury apt and looks well maintained with nearly 100% owner occupancy. Should I be worried or glad?

And what are just the basics we can get by on? I’m thinking the whole budget should be about 00 to:
order invitations
buy a dress
pay the ceremony fee for the church
rent a reception site
have floral arrangements
have a photgrapher
have enough hor d’ourves and wedding cake for 50-60 people.

Am I missing anything? Is it a bad idea to get a loan for just a one-day celebration that might take 3 or more years to pay off?
We have been pushing it back for a couple years now… we are both on tight incomes.

I guess if we just scraped together the money we have, the best we could do would be cake and cocktail weenies. I would feel like a major dork expecting people to spend money on airfare, hotels, new clothes, etc. for THAT.
Thanks for all the good insight! I guess we haven’t saved anything yet because there hasn’t been room in the budget. I just want to get married already, but my family "expects" a big day that will include them, of course. I feel like getting a loan is my last option for actually getting the darn thing over with!

My husband is trying to purchase the home we have been renting for two years. We are trying to buy it from a church so they are only asking 35k. My husband made 62K last year, granted his credit isnt the greatest however we cant get a bank to agree to loan anyone 35k for a home anymore. The first thing they say is we dont loan less than 50k for a home. Does anyone know of a bank or mortgage company that will loan 35k to a family with less than perfect credit? Our time is running out quickly we have till the end of October before we have to move and I dont want to pull my two kiddos out of school to move. Please!!! God bless and have a great day!

About our duties as slaves to Christ.

God wants us to learn to have a giving heart, not only because others need our help and we are his body, but because it is good for us in becoming healthy spiritual beings.

Still, God did prescribe laws that regulated how his people gave; to who, how much, when and why. They were meant for his people Israel but we practice many today, ( When I loan money to someone I don’t ask for interest on the return). Most of the laws we have in the western world are based on biblical principles and it has helped us to be great in the world.

What I have said about us needing to take a look at the distribution of wealth is in no way suggesting that I think we need a socialist system. As I said, man is to weak to be trusted with that. Also, what I said does not take away from a persons responsibility to listen to and obey the guidance of the Holy Spirit in personal giving.

I think that as believers in Christ and citizens of the US or any nation on earth, we have to wear two hats in a way. The first, is the hat we wear that expresses how we live our personal lives in Christ. The second is the hat that tells our legislators and leaders how we see our nation and which laws we would like to see inacted.

I agree that the body of Christ should be feeding the poor, binding the wounded, clothing the naked and giving a drink of water to the little child who asks. But I have taken notice in the Holy Scriptures that God has commanded his people to fight injustice as well. So we should be doing all these personally, as a body of believers and, I think, as citizens of the country we live in.

If a believer gives up his or her right and freedom in Christ, to give of what they have freely, joyfully and generously because the government or some organization is already helping others, it is they who are losing, and God will take steps to show them a better way.

Maybe all that needs to be done is for the Church to stand up and shout out the injustice, point fingers at the problems and bring shame on those who are guilty. Like I said, we make a big enough stink over petty things like Christmas and prayer in school, why can’t we shout about something important for the downtrodden?
SMITIMB

Did you read beyond my "missuse" of the word "slave"?
I’m impressed with your knowledge of that word.
SEEKSAY JEEBUS…BLA BLA BLA

Yes, the founding fathers of the United States of America when back and studied these writings to establish law.

What ever. If you didn’t notice I was asking Christians what they think, not those who haven’t believed yet.

Seek God and He will be found by you. Then the truth will set you free of your anger.
Sunsandn…

I just checked out the site you have there.
As a believer I must say that this is not proof of anything.

It starts out saying that it will be like a child’s explanation and quickly goes in to so much detail that no one will care to read it.

The Holy Spirit is given to us to convince and convict. Maybe you and the author of the site should keep that in mind.

Jesus is Lord and his name is above every name that is named in heaven, on earth and under the earth.

That is enough. People will believe when they hear the truth empowered by the Holy Spirit.

why does a church rent/lease a Building, for (say) ,000 per month, when they could buy the place, and pay less in mortgage payments.
Do they benefit more this way.
Do they get all the rent back, or what?
I have had 4 different congregations, look at my friends building, for the purpose of leasing for a church. the rent could be as high as ,000 per mo. I was just curious as ,why would a church want to pay that kind of money, to lease a building. why would they not just buy a place. unless it benefits more to rent. my friend ( landlord ) asked me this question, and I didn’t know either. We just want to know why!
thank you for all your answers, before on this matter….I hope this helps clerify my question

I was talking with this guy today and he was saying that if you want to buy a 5 or more unit apartment or a commercial building that you need 40% down now.

is that right?

After that "mixing" was she able to throw out all of her Catholic authors of the last 150 years to show that all of their Imprimaturs and Nihil Obstats never meant anything? As to why she did that, can anyone explain why?

The unorthodox and the Protestants had wanted her to "change." Did she change to bring THEM in? Or to bring herself out? The doctrinal books if not null then why discarded? If not null, then why do the Novus Ordo Catholics not read those doctrinal books, Ecclesiastical Reviews and Encyclicals to check them out and see if they are valid? If valid once, not valid now? If Doctrine indefectible once, NOW defectable? Does this make sense when we are speaking of the eternal Word of God? Had the Professors of Theology and the Doctorates dissertations written catholicly in their serious apologetic studies? The alternative is that the Roman Catholic Church been in heresy for 1958 years just as do the Protestants and the unorthodox and all the break-away variations of religion claim, and now the Vatican Church finally admitted it?

Does NewChurch place God above Man; confess to brothers first, and then to God? Was this all backwards, and now they can say the Apostles were wrong? That they should confess to their friends first? Is that heresy? Is it brotherhood? Is Brotherhood a Religion? But— Is not the real teaching of the True Faith that the brotherhood of the Catholic Church is/was already a well-defined family arrangement? And it gains its new members by the usual family route: they are born into it — through the regenerative power of Baptism? And once baptized, they become, as the Baltimore Catechism puts it, sons of God and heirs to the kingdom of Heaven? Is this NOT the true teaching from all of eternity? Then why throw those books out?

Here is a list of a few apologetic books–books which Scott Hahn, and his once-friend and many other famous NewChurch members know, just so you can inter-loan them –the books are archived (hidden, lost or discarded)—and THEN comment, but not before:

Canon Fr. George D. Smith, "The Teaching of the Catholic Church"; Fr. Henry James Coleridge, The Return of the King";
Fr. Koch "Manual of Apologetics";
Fr, Prachensky, "The Church of the Parables";
Fr. S. Hunter, S.J. "Outlines of Dogmatic Theology";
Fr. Jos.Clifford Fenton, Prof. Dogmatic Theol., Cath.Univ., Concept of Sacred Theology";
Henry Denzinger, "Sources of Catholic Dogma" 1952, rev. by Karl J. Rahner, S.J.
Bored: Who are the fundamentalists, what is “everything” and who is being fooled?
Sweetie: Now who is being fooled? Books shown are from scholars of Catholicism. You have not read any.
Ricky: What is the “official” birth control dogma? Perhaps lack of chastisement was meant to drive people away.
Denise: Answer the question. Pope Pius X, IX, V, VIII, VI were led by the Holy Ghost also. Read encyclicals.
Orchid my dear: Read carefully. Catholics write books–about dogma, dogma is catechetical. Traditional dogma is defined by Doctors, promulgated by popes. Read all popes, not just selected ones. All definitions in dogma ended in 1952 with the Assumption of Mary promulgated as de fide by Pope Pius XII.
John W: Answer the questions. The Paraclete guides legitimate Councils which are called to define dogma. All dogmatic definitions ended in 1952. The Invisible Vicar, a dogma of the Church, always guides the Church, even “between” vicars for He will not leave us orphans. This Question is not about Abp. Lefebvre, you have digressed. I will reply on it since no one seems to have a clue about the Canon Law in place on the actions of Abp. Lefebvre [please use his title, he is, before God, a priest forever; God uses the Bishop’s title, too]. Abp. Lefebvre has changed no dogma, established no church. His acts are those of a single person who opened a seminary with episcopal permission. His priestly society has no ecclesial power; it commands no one, nor excommunicates anyone. The only pending fault of those who hold to the Vatican II popes and disobey them is that it is diametrical They admit but disobey. If this is expressed in the open forum, the only choice is to obey. (con’t)
John W (con’t): He who will not obey to what he admits commits mortal sin; he who will not admit to what he disobeys commits mortal sin. Many of these will not learn, and their crime is self-willed ignorance, a crime against the Holy Ghost of disobedience in the light of intelligence. It is first the sin against the First Commandment. Not all schism is dogmatic and/or excommunicable. Abp.Lefebvre’s schism for which he cannot be excommunicated (the writ was left unsigned and is not published in the Acta Sedis Apostolis) is that of espiscopal consecrating without a mandate. In the past the Catholic Church has restored schismatic bishops for their error by a public declaration of the Abjuration against Error, the Oath Against Modernism, and private absolution. (Encyclical of Pope Pius V) Read Bishops at Large, Peter Anson. Focus on your dogma 30 A.D. to 1952 and answer the question.
John W: Thank you for your excellent observation on the missing catechesis. It is true that overkill in the question was used as a device to stir the minds. The new catechesis, opines Fr. Trinchard, Dr. Coomaraswamy, Fr. Cekada, and others who are scholars in theology is that the struggles of theologians, popes, saints and martyrs are unheard, missing popes and saints, theologians and doctors are unmentioned, there is a gap in history, a canyon between generations due to denigrating what the elders learned and remember. This is lethal to continuity of doctrine. How shall the weakly catechized know there exists true doctrine decreed by Christ, left by papal Encyclicals? He is told nothing of it. 150 years of missing ecclesial history does not convey Catholicism. It does convey much “deviation,” always explained away. The literary record by ecclesial theologians and doctrinists is locked away. The titles will not be known unless there is a beginning point. This is that point.

My fiance and I are going to meet with a baptist pastor tomorrow afternoon to see if he will marry us. The church itsself does allow for the marriage of non-members as long as they are christian. We are both baptized baptist christians and at least I consider myself religious – I pray every day & feel that I have a relationship with God, but neither of us regularly attend church. Another concern is that we live together, and my friend (who is also engaged) told me her pastor said they have to move out & stop living together! Thisis NOT an option for us, we have a mortgage & a dog. I really want to be married in a church as a christian it is important to me, but I am also of the mindset that only God can judge the decisions I make about how to live my life…but I understand also why a pastor would say something about this to us as well.

Anyway, I am wondering if anyone has been in this situation before and what happened when you talked to the pastor?

How about a church/pastor/religion who called the divorced and remarried people an abomination?

How about a church/pastor/religion that said that anyone who filed bankruptcy or defaulted on a student loan was a degenerate?

So, why do you tolerate a church/pastor/religion that uses such names to describe the supposed "sin" of homosexuality?

From a literal interpretation of the Bible, those who do not turn from their sin of adultery/divorce by being celibate, obesity/glutton by losing weight, or stealing/bankruptcy by repaying the debt, will not inherit the kingdom of God. Just as fundies say, homosexuals who do not turn will not go to heaven.

So, why do you tolerate such hateful words and actions towards homosexuals by the fundamentalists…degenrate, abomination, scum of the earth…but, would not tolerate such language in relation to other supposed "sinners"?

Serious question,

My husband is in Iraq & we’ve fallen in love with a property in Temple, TX. Unfortunatley all of these regulations for sub prime loans just changed and my lender backed out yesterday. We’re supposed to close by the 6th of April! So, I’ll lay it out here and if anyone has a suggestion please let me know ASAP! Thanks so much!

House: 3 bedroom/1 bath on 8.5 acres, property has "church" on it with another 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen, ect. There are also 2 small horse barns.
We offered 5k and buyer will pay up to k closing costs. We have 0 earnest money on the property.

Credit: I filed bankruptcy solo (ch 7) last year due to some medical issues (long story) and it was completed 12/06. My middle score is 619 and debt to income is great. My husband has a lower score, in the 520’s. His income is slightly less than mine, but still good debt to income for him too.

We have 00 to put down & understand our interest rate will be higher, but we’ll refi later. Please help
Can’t go VA because of my bankruptcy, thanks though!

My wife’s close friend, Mary is a minister in a small community United Methodist Church.

Mary’s church does not have enough members so the people higher up in her in the United Methodist Community told her if this church doesn’t have more members they will close her church…It’s not a money issue, they are well funded. They have other groups that rent the building for events, there’s no mortgage and only one fulltime employee. But each church needs a certain number of members…

I’m not a religious person but I would love to help this local church survive. What I need are quite a few creative ways to get people to at least visit an old community church. This old church is in a small two and a half square mile town… but a large population of probably 13-14,000 people.

If I can help Mary get people to at least visit the church and then let her and God do the rest…

My wife and I have no loans on cars and no apartment (owned) yet. We want to buy a new car and finance it. How would that affect our home loans (in, say, 6 months)? Do the banks prefer you to have as little debt as possible, or would the car loan be good for our credit because we will be paying the financing on a regular basis for the next half year? We both have great credit ratings.

Appreciate any advice.

I am hoping to apply to this school soon, but would like to get financial things squared away in the event that I get accepted. I am not wanting to take out a student loan as I don’t want that hanging over me when I get done, and I won’t be able to work during the actual schooling because the training is so intense. Total I need about ,000. This would be a missions trip as well so I was thinking about doing some church fundraisers, but wanted to see if any of you had any suggestions. I need to get the money within the next ten months. Thanks!

We bought the house back in November of 2005 and now we are no longer living together in the home. I left the home rather than stay due to domestic violence and because I could not afford the payments for the house alone. Now he says that if I don’t pay my half of the mortgage every month that he with take me to court and sue for the half that I owe and yet we’ve had an offer to buy the home from a member of my church and he refuses on the grounds that he wants to keep the home. The court says that I need to hire a lawyer but I don’t have th money to pay a lawyer and so I need info on how to represent myself.

Most people hang on the idea that Hitler was just a crazy megalomaniac, but what people don’t understand is the climate in antebellum Europe.

Most people don’t even know why Hitler was elected. He was elected because of the post WWI financial problems Germany was facing. People couldn’t get work and faced severe inflation. In addition, most of the land in Germany, Poland, and Czechoslovakia was owned by Jews. Jews had been wealthy since a long time ago because the Catholic Church forbade banking and loaning practices, which left Jews to make money off of banking. People began wondering why people of Jewish ethnicity were running their country instead of someone of German ethnicity.

Poland organized with the ONR and came up with the slogan "Poland for Poles".

So, nationalists weren’t crazy, some of their viewpoints weren’t totally inaccurate.

I want to join a church. I used to be a member of Lakewood Church, until they moved into the old Compaq center
(Houston). I am getting turned off by the whole "mega church" idea. I want to find somewhere smaller, where people will know my name, etc. I have only been to Non-Denominational churches, but what religion might I find a contemporary service, without strict rules, etc? I just want to learn the bible and I feel Joel Osteen is more of a motivational speaker than anything else.
Also–Why does his wife talk about the new beautiful house they built, then ask for tithe? I see the Osteens wearing extravagant fur, outfits and updo’s in their hair often. I really had fun at that church, but I don’t think I want to go anymore. I feel like i’m paying their mortgage.

I am asking for some advice on how to get a 00 loan. I can’t get that amount with a payday loan on the first time, you have to start with a 0 or 0 and pay that off and they’ll increase it to 0 and so on. It takes 5 times before getting to the thousand. But the pay back is so much and I couldn’t afford to pay it back in a two week period, I’ll be right back where I am.
Another thing is, I can’t take in any new debts right now because I’m in a settlement with my creditors, so a traditional loan is out.
That leaves an individual or a church or on those lines. I have no family to turn to and I recently moved to a new state for work and haven’t any close friends that I could ask. Prosper.com hasn’t worked, it’s harder than a bank.
Anybody have any suggestions or point me in the right direction?
